Customer Experience

I would like to compliment the work that April Reynolds (class # 12) has done thus far. It is my understanding she was trained at Teresa's School of Therapeutic Massage, and I have been thrilled with her, since my first massage several months ago. I picked up one of her cards in a local restaurant in Rochester In. I have a history of massage therapists for the last 20 years. I am so happy to have her expertise and patience in working out the knots I manage to collect. She is a great massage Therapist.

Sincerely, Lorinda Roberts

        Teresa,

Had to let you know that I can't remember when I've felt so good as I have the past 4 days! Thanks to the Graber Detox Massage. Don't know how long it will last, but I'm loving it.

Thank You, Carolyn

Student Experience

Hi Teresa,

I just wanted to thank you for all that you have taught me over the past year. I have worked on about 50 people over the past two weeks and I feel that I have really been able to put a lot of skills to use and made a lot of differences for people. Seeing physical changes, feeling therapeutic changes and hearing verbal appreciation and confirmation is quite rewarding. I have also thought a lot about the healing pulses and have found them in some deep tissue work as well. Massage Therapy is truly an amazing field and I am blessed to be part of this incredible journey.

Thank-you, Jennifer

       Teresa,

I know that you love to hear about success stories, so here is another one that I love. As you know, our fitness facility in Noblesville is up and running. Our massage practice is taking off very nicely. I had a gentleman pull up this week and hobble out of his car. He was in his twenties and was walking with about a 5-10 degree slant from normal spinal posture. It looked like he had something seriously wrong with him. He told me that he had thrown his back out about 3 weeks ago and had been seeing  a doctor and chiropractor regularly for this condition. His doctor had prescribed Vicadin, Valium, and Prednisone. He was going to the chiropractor 3 times per week and after all of that, he finally could go back to work and everything seemed to be going fine. He then did some yard work over the weekend and ended up in the same condition. He wanted to try something different so he stopped into our facility to talk with me about it. After taking care of all the legalities and paperwork, I decided to try some deep tissue and facilitated stretching on him. We did a very painful session for 30 minutes. He had difficulty walking after the massage because his spinal compression had been released so much so that his body was having trouble supporting his weight. I was concerned about him and told him to not do any more stretching that evening and showed him how to do ice therapy for the area. I called him the following afternoon and he said that he was so much better he couldn't believe it. He said, "I am walking straight again and most of the pain is gone. You da' man! Thank you so much! I will definitely be back to see you soon." I felt very relieved and wanted to share the story with you about the power of our practice. I would take one intense session of massage therapy over three weeks of chiropractic and multiple drugs any day.

After being out of high school for a year and going to college for a semester, I couldn't find a  career path that sounded like me.  I looked into massage therapy online and discovered there was a school in my hometown.  I reviewed the course outline and loved the whole package.  The longer class went on the more interested I became.  After graduating, I began working for Teresa's Therapeutic Massage Spa.  My interest and intrigue in massage grew with every client.  Six months after graduating, I was offered a position through Teresa at American Health Network.  Working on chronic pain patients immediately became a passion.  I felt the need to learn more about the common aches  and pains that so many people live with.  I took a continuing education class on Trigger Point Therapy.  The class was very informative.  All the information seemed to soak into my brain like a sponge.  I applied my knowledge to my clients and saw great results.  I even learned how to work on my aches and pains.  I love having a career path where the knowledge is never-ending and options are endless.

Becoming a Massage Therapist is a God driven thing for me.  I was driving home from work one day and praying about my purpose in life.  He spoke to me very clearly, about becoming a Massage Therapist to work with the elderly and disabled children.  Where this is such a significant need.  In being obedient, I enrolled in Teresa’s 40 hr. class prior to full registration.  After the first instruction and application, I knew this was my passion.  I immediately became like a sponge, absorbing her techniques and knowledge.  I began practicing on family and friends.

My first “official” client was a Mother of a friend who was battling breast cancer.  This experience confirmed to me the need that God was using me for.  During the head massage, her hair was falling out in my hands.  She had been very insecure prior to her massage about that issue, and her body was insecure as well.  However, once the massage began she could finally relax; something she had not been able to do since she had been diagnosed.  Battling breast cancer is enduring one hurdle after another.  During this one hour, she could clear her mind, and her body could rest.  After the massage she was a “noodle.”  During this experience I was in awe, seeing God’s work through my hands, and the comfort I was able to provide her.  I was hooked.  Since I have began the 11-month course at Teresa’s, we have learned more techniques that I intend to use as a career, and information to enhance my own health.  The atmosphere at Teresa’s is amazing.  When you walk in the door, you know that God is at work in her life as well.  It is evident all over the walls in her business, and also in the smile that’s always on her face.  You become like a family.  She instructs with passion, spirituality, and grace.  She is dedicated to making positive changes within each client/student.  You can’t find that just anywhere.

After obtaining my bachelor’s degree I had ever intention of going on to get my Master’s.  However, after working in the field I decided that I was not feeling fulfilled and decided against pursuing my Master’s degree.  Unsure what to do, I began to research different fields of study and came upon Massage Therapy.  I had heard from several different people the positive outcomes that massage had played in their lives and decided that I too wanted to be able to provide that type of outcome in people’s lives.  That is when I heard about Teresa’s School of Therapeutic Massage and immediately signed up.

Although I have only been studying massage for a couple of months now, what I have learned has been so powerful it is amazing.  Teresa has taught us several techniques that when applied correctly can help ease the simplest to the worst ailments.  I hope to continue discovering the power of massage and find a job that allows me to apply these techniques on a daily basis.

I first started getting interested in massage when I had my children.  I loved to massage them, and saw the great benefits that massage had on them.  I thought to myself, “If I can do this for my children with no training, just think of how many children and adults that I could help0 with the proper schooling.”  That is what began my search for a good, Certified Massage Therapy School.

I searched the internet for Massage schools.  The only ones that I could find was at least an hour to an hour and a half drive away from home.  That would take too much time from my family, which is what got me started in massage to begin with.  Then I heard of “Teresa’s School of Therapeutic Massage.”  That led me to the “40 hour into to Massage class,” that Teresa offers.

The 40 hour class was great.  I learned to give a full body Swedish massage.  Not only did I learn about massage, but also a lot about people and the profession.  Teresa was a really good teacher and very willing to help in any way she could to make sure you understood everything that she was teaching, no matter what it took.

After the 40 hr. class, I was able to give massage to family and friends.  I took after that immediately.  Not long after that, I had a friend who was dying of cancer.  I, along with her family and friends would sit, talk, and read to her with no response.  I started to massage her hands, and for the first time she opened her eyes and looked up at ME!  I knew in my heart that massaging just her hands made her feel at peace.  The next day she passed away very peacefully.  Just knowing that I made her feel more at peace was the greatest feeling anyone could ever have.  I knew from then, that this is what I wanted to do; this is how I wanted to help other people forever. I am now currently taking the 606 hour Certified Massage Therapy Program and loving it.  I have started working in massage while still in school.  I have a lot to learn and can’t wait to learn it.

I decided to start Teresa’s School of Therapeutic Massage after I had fallen down a flight stairs. I came to a day that the students have an open client massage.  The student did such an impressing job it made me reconsider my path in life.  I realized that learning the technique of massage would complete me, since I was already interested in “Life’s Natural Way of Healing” and being able to see people smile.

Once I started school here at Teresa’s, we were quickly learning hands on techniques. One of the techniques was a Detox Massage which is a full body massage that stimulates the body’s circulation and metabolism so that the body can improve its own processes.  In massaging the body, it helps to open up the lymph nodes, helping the body to rid itself of toxins and waste to allow fresh oxygen flow.  After learning the technique of a Detox Massage, I had the privilege to practice on my Mother.  She has many health problems.  One of her health problems is she has immature lungs.  Thus, it comes with a lot of respiratory difficulties.  It came along with ta terrible tight cough.  She even has to sleep with oxygen at night.  After about two Detox Massages, she informed me that her cough was looser and she was able to cough and clear her lungs and breathe.  She added that she was also able to sleep without her oxygen as much.  With each Detox Massage she is feeling much better.  Our hopes are that she will be able to get completely off the oxygen.

My husband has suffered with severe headaches frequently his entire adult life.  For many years he tried different prescription medications and after no positive result, she settled with taking massive doses of Ibuprofen to ease the pain.  I was uneasy with the amount of pain medication he was taking and encouraged him to visit the doctor one more time. One year ago, he had a consultation with this new MD, Dr. Tuchscherer, and after finding no obvious causes for his headaches, his doctor wrote a prescription for weekly Massage Therapy with Teresa and Kokomo Family Care.  The headaches suddenly became less frequent, less intense, and his neck and shoulder muscles became much more flexible.

After watching the results that Massage Therapy achieved, I was inspired to learn more about the profession.  This led me to Teresa’s School of Therapeutic Massage where I am currently enrolled in the program.  I’ve really enjoyed the program thus far because of Teresa’s interesting teaching method, and her ability to connect with her students on a soul level.  Activities such as going outside for class, and visiting her home to perform massage on the horses make the course extremely enjoyable.  I am looking forward to graduating from the school in February 2006, and to applying the skills and knowledge I’m obtaining to help others achieve positive results from Massage Therapy.

I took the 40 hour class, and my reason by doing so explains why I decided to do massage and continue with my classes.  My husband and I had a daughter in January of 2004.  I had her by cesarean section and about three weeks after my surgery I started having extremely painful muscle spasms in my back.  These spasms were bad enough that one day my moth r thought I was having a heart attack and called an ambulance.  My doctor put me on a muscle relaxant and a pain killer which helped with the pain, but I could still tell that the problem was still there.  I asked my doctor about massage therapy and he decided he wanted to try physical therapy first.  I went through with the physical therapy for about a month and was still having the spasms; the physical therapy just seemed to make the problem worse.  I went back to my doctor and asked him again about massage therapy and he referred me to Teresa.  I went to see her twice, the first time she did a Swedish massage which seemed to relax the muscles some but I could tell something was still not right.  The second time she did a cranial sacral massage, and I was able to go off both of th e medications.  I was amazed on how much the massage helped me and so quickly.  I decided to do massage because I want to help people the way that Teresa was able to help me.  I’m really enjoying my classes and I’m learning a lot.

I like the gloves that we use in class because I think they glide over the skin better.  I seem to get right in the muscle easier with them then without, and they protect my hands from the spreading of germs.

I took the massage study course back in 2002.I started the massage course by taking a 40 hour introduction into massage. There I learned some of the basics of massage.  I graduated on May 28th of 2002. Later on in the same year I began a 600hr course of massage therapy. There were 6 people in our class.  There I learned how to do Swedish massage, deep tissue massage. Also learned about anatomy and physiology.   Since graduating on July 11,2003, I worked a short time for Teresa doing massage therapy on clients. From there I went to Marion and began a massage business of my own.   I am currently moving to Muncie and hoping to expand my massage business.  Massage therapy is a very rewarding experience and I enjoy it very much. The working conditions are great, and I like being able to help people feel therapeutically better.  I learned a lot by attending Teresa's classes and I am very grateful to her for what she has taught me. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to learn about massage therapy.
